TERMS OF USE

THE FINE PRINT, IN PLAIN WORDS.

The terms for using PACA, including the Race Pass, PACA Pro subscriptions and running safely.

LAST UPDATED 14 OCTOBER 2026

THE BASICS

These terms are an agreement between you and Paul Bragason, an individual based in Cape Town, South Africa, who makes PACA ("PACA", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the PACA app for iPhone and Apple Watch, you agree to them. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app. Where these terms say more, they add to it.

Questions about these terms: hello@thepaca.app.

RUN SAFELY. PACA IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

PACA gives pacing, nutrition-timing and training information only. Its finish estimates, readiness score, heart-rate zones and alerts are calculations from your data and the course, not medical or professional advice, and they can be wrong.

  • Check with a doctor before starting a new training plan or race, especially if you have a medical condition.
  • Listen to your body over any number on a screen. Slow down or stop if you feel unwell, dizzy, faint or in pain. On the watch, hold any screen to silence all alerts.
  • PACA only times the nutrition you choose. It never recommends products or amounts. Your fuelling, hydration and any caffeine or supplements are your decision.
  • Stay aware of traffic, terrain, weather and race rules. Do not look at your watch when it is unsafe to do so.

FREE, RACE PASS AND PRO

  • PACA Free: connect your data, see your readiness, load any race or route, see your finish estimate and preview the first part of your plan. Your first race is free in full.
  • Race Pass: a one-off purchase that unlocks the full plan, nutrition timings and Apple Watch features for one race plan. For a race in PACA's race list, it lasts until a week after race day. For your own route, it lasts 60 days from when you unlock it.
  • PACA Pro: a yearly subscription that unlocks every plan for as long as it is active.

Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency and including any tax. Race Passes are saved on your device. If you delete the app, an unused or active Race Pass may not come back, although PACA Pro can always be restored with Restore Purchases.

SUBSCRIPTIONS AND FREE TRIALS

  • Payment is taken by Apple and charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
  • PACA Pro renews automatically every year at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before renewal.
  • If a free trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or from PACA's Settings › Membership.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

CODES AND OFFERS

From time to time we may give out offer codes for PACA Pro. Codes are redeemed through the App Store, are personal, have no cash value and may have an expiry date or a limit on how many times they can be used.

YOUR DATA AND OTHER SERVICES

How PACA handles your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. PACA can connect to Apple Health and, if you choose, Strava. Those services are run by Apple and Strava under their own terms, and PACA is not responsible for them or for their availability. PACA is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Apple, Strava or any race organiser. Apple, Apple Watch and Apple Health are trademarks of Apple Inc. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc.

USING PACA FAIRLY

You may use PACA for your own personal training and racing. Please do not copy, resell, reverse engineer or misuse the app, or try to get around its purchases. Race routes and GPX files you load must be ones you are allowed to use.

CHANGES AND AVAILABILITY

We keep improving PACA, so features may change. We will try to keep PACA working well, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or compatible with every device. If we ever stop offering PACA Pro, we will not renew your subscription, and you can ask Apple about a refund for any unused time.

LIABILITY

PACA is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, illness, loss or damage that comes from using PACA, relying on its estimates or alerts, or being unable to use it. Our total liability to you will not exceed what you paid for PACA in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law, including your rights under South Africa's Consumer Protection Act, where it applies.

THE LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If we update them, we will post the new version here with a new date. If you keep using PACA after an update, you accept the new terms.
